Wilma Slenders, Ph.D.

Wilma Slenders, Ph.D.Wilma J. Slenders, PhD, is a highly skilled executive coach, strategic advisor, and consultant in individual and organizational effectiveness. Her professional career spans leadership roles in government, not-for-profit organizations, a global consulting firm, and Transcend Management Advisors Inc., the consulting and coaching practice she founded in 1997.

 

With more than 20 years of experience providing strategic advice and counsel to senior leaders, Wilma believes that the key to achieving lasting, sustainable success is to recognize the need for change, commit to action, take action, and reinforce key learnings and behaviors. She has a unique perspective on the role of senior leaders, their relationships, and challenges with communication and trust. Her leading edge research, “Chief Executive Officers and Their Trusted Advisor Relationships: A Qualitative Study from the CEO’s Perspective,” shed light on the role and purpose of a CEO’s trusted advisor. 

 

Known for her pragmatic, business results focus, Dr. Slenders has a proven record in enabling personal transformation, as well as large scale change in organizations. A recognized speaker and author, she asks provocative questions challenging individuals to think beyond their usual perspectives.

 

Wilma has worked with leaders at all levels of the organization in telecommunications, transportation, the energy sector (utilities, oil and gas, and related industries), agriculture, financial services, government, and quasi-governmental organizations. 

 

Wilma is an accredited Certified Professional Coach (CPC), Certified Management Consultant (CMC), and Change Management Practitioner (CMP). She is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), the Women’s Executive Network (WXN), the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada), Calgary Association of Professional Coaches (CAPC), Academy of Management (AOM), and numerous other organizations.

 

A former competitive speedskater, Dr. Slenders continues to enjoy an athletic lifestyle. She loves to travel, take photographs, and spend time at her home in Mexico. She gives back to the community as a Volunteer Consultant with CentrePoint Non-Profit Management, pro-bono consulting with community agencies, and public speaking on leadership, management, change, and trust.
